Tesla coils (transformers, electrical system components, ... Components (hierarchy name)) |
|
Note: Electrical transformers that use high-frequency alternating current to increase voltage, invented by Nikola Tesla ca.1891. The voltage levels allow the electricity to travel through the air as arcs resembling lightning. Though Tesla coils produce high voltage, the high frequency of the current make these arcs generally safe for human interaction, and have been used in popular exhibitions. These were also important to the development of radio technology. |
