Note: Members of an order of amphibians characterized by having a tail, normal limbs, many cartilaginous skeletal elements, four-faceted articulation between the skull and vertebral column, incomplete maxillary arcade lacking a bony connection with neurocranium and palatoquadrate, and larvae with true teeth and external gills. Dates from the Middle Jurassic to present, with ten living and three extinct families, including more than 550 living species.

Additional Notes:
Chinese (traditional) ..... 屬兩棲動物的目;其特徵為有尾,發展完全的四肢,軟骨成份多,頭骨與脊柱連接處有四面關節,不完整的上顎骨齒列弓與腦顱及方軟骨間無骨頭連接,幼體時期有真齒與外鰓。有尾目可追溯至侏儸紀中期,現存的科有十種,三科則已絕跡,包含超過五百五十種現存物種。 
Dutch ..... Leden van een orde van amfibieën die worden gekenmerkt door een staart, normale ledematen, tal van kraakbeenachtige skeletelementen, een geleding in vier facetten tussen de schedel en de wervelkolom, een onvolledige maxillaire boog zonder benige verbinding met het neurocranium en het palatoquadrate kraakbeen, en larven met echte tanden en uitwendige kieuwen. Kwam reeds in de Midden-Jura voor en omvat tien levende en drie uitgestorven families, met inbegrip van meer dan 550 levende soorten.
