Note: Projectile launchers consisting of a beam with arms of unequal length balanced on a high scaffold; a heavy weight is attached flexibly to the shorter arm and a sling to the longer arm. The longer arm is pulled down by a windlass, and a stone or other projectile is loaded into the sling. When the windlass is disengaged, the weighted short arm falls downward, whipping the longer arm up and hurling the projectile forward. Distinct from "trebuchets" in that the weight is not fixed.

Additional Notes:
Dutch ..... Lanceerinrichtingen voor projectielen, bestaande uit een stang met armen van ongelijke lengte die is gemonteerd op een hoge steiger. Een zwaar gewicht wordt flexibel aan de kortere arm bevestigd en een slinger aan de langere arm. De langere arm wordt naar beneden getrokken door een windas, en er wordt een steen of een ander projectiel in de slinger geplaatst. Op het moment dat de windas wordt losgelaten, valt de korte, verzwaarde arm naar beneden, waardoor de lange arm omhoog zwiept en het projectiel naar voren werpt. Te onderscheiden van ‘blijden’ omdat het gewicht niet is gefixeerd. 
Spanish ..... Lanzadores de proyectiles consistentes en un astil con brazos de longitud desigual balanceado sobre un andamio alto; un gran peso se coloca sin fijarse en el brazo corto y una honda al brazo largo. El brazo largo es jalado hacia abajo por medio de un cabestrante, y en la honda se carga una piedra u otro proyectil. Cuando se suelta el cabestrante el brazo corto con peso cae hacia abajo, empujando el brazo largo hacia arriba y lanzando el proyectil hacia adelante. Diferente de "trabuquete” en cuyos lanzadores descritos, el peso no se fija.
