Note: Pulling boats developed in the 1820s near Whitehall Street, New York City, and used originally in large harbors as workboats by chandlers, pilots, shipping agents, and other businesses, and later for recreation; usually 14 to 22 feet long with one to five rowers sometimes with pail and centerboard, and distinguished by a plumb stem and wine glass-shaped stern. |

Dutch ..... Roeiboten die in de jaren 20 van de 19e eeuw in de buurt van Whitehall Street, in de stad New York, zijn ontworpen en oorspronkelijk in grote havens door scheepsleveranciers, loodsen, scheepsbevrachters en andere handelaren als werkboten werden gebruikt, later ook voor recreatieve doeleinden; zijn meestal zo'n 4, tot 6,5 m lang, hebben één tot vijf roeiers en soms een puts en een zwaard. Ze onderscheiden zich door hun verticale voorsteven en een achtersteven in de vorm van een wijnglas. |

Ruderboot, das in den 1820er Jahren in der Nähe der Whitehall Street in New York City entwickelt wurde und ursprünglich in großen Häfen als Arbeitsboot von Krämern, Lotsen, Schiffsagenten und anderen Gewerbebetrieben genutzt wurde, sowie später auch zur Freizeitbeschäftigung. Es ist gewöhnlich ca. vier bis sechseinhalb Meter lang, für einen bis fünf Ruderer, manchmal mit einem Pütz und Mittelschwert, sowie gekennzeichnet durch einen vertikalen Vorsteven und einen Achtersteven in Form eines Weinglases. |

Pulling boat desarrollado en la década de 1820 cerca de Whitehall Street, Nueva York, y utilizado originalmente en grandes puertos como barco de trabajo por los tenderos, pilotos, consignatarios de buques y otros asuntos, y más tarde utilizado para actividades recreativas. Generalmente de 14 a 22 pies de largo, con uno o cinco remos, algunas veces con cubeta y quilla central, y caracterizado por una proa de plomo y una popa en forma de copa de vino. |
