Note: Fast ocean-going sailing ships generally characterized by sharply raked stern, a long and low hull with the draft deeper aft than forward, an inclined, overhanging counter stern, and a large spread of canvas; developed in the mid-19th century as cargo vessels, but their speed lent the vessels to other uses; typically having three masts and square rigs.

| Chinese (traditional) ..... 快速遠洋帆船，普遍特徵為陡峭的船尾；長而低矮的船身，且船尾吃水較船首深；傾斜且突出的懸伸艉（counter stern）；以及大大展開的風帆。發展於十九世紀中期，原作為貨船之用，但因其速度上的優勢，而被移作他用；普遍有三根桅杆及橫帆（square rigs）。 |

Schnelles, hochseetaugliches Segelschiff, allgemein gekennzeichnet durch einen stark ausladenden Vorsteven, einen langen und niedrigen Rumpf mit einem tiefer liegenden hinteren Tiefgang als dem vorderen Tiefgang, einen schrägen, ausladenden Hecküberhang sowie eine große Segelfläche. In der Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts wurden Klipper als Frachtschiffe entwickelt, ihre Geschwindigkeit erlaubte jedoch weitere Einsatzmöglichkeiten. Typischerweise haben sie drei Masten und Rahsegel. |
| Spanish ..... Barco de navegación rápida de trayecto oceánico, generalmente caracterizado por una popa agudamente inclinada, un casco largo y bajo con el calado más profundo en popa que hacia delante, una bovedilla de popa inclinada y colgante, y una gran envergadura de velas; desarrollado a mediados del siglo XIX como barco de carga, pero sus velocidades dispusieron los barcos para otros usos. Tenían típicamente tres mástiles y un aparejo cuadrado. |
