Enjoy music and evening views of the city, tour the galleries, and revel in the end of the workweek in a casual and spontaneous atmosphere at our monthly Fridays Off the 405 series, a musical happening curated by culture magazine Flavorpill.
Fridays Off the 405 features free live music and a cash bar (open until 8:30 p.m.). The Garden Terrace Cafe, also open until 8:30 p.m., offers sandwiches, salads, and other goodies. The galleries will be open as well—so stroll in with your friends and catch a glimpse of two extraordinary photography exhibitions currently on view, Recent History: Photographs by Luc Delahaye, Delahaye's first West Coast presentation, and Edward Weston: Enduring Vision. You can also try your hand at sketching in the galleries with our free Getty Drawing Hour.
September 7, 2007: Them Jeans and DJ Swayzee
Shake what you got in them jeans! DJ Jason Stewart, aka Them Jeans, is a musical force of nature who also happens to be one of Hollywood's coolest young graphic designers. He brews an espresso-strength party at the Getty Center, showing off musical tastes ranging from hardcore punk to dancefloor-friendly hip-hop, post-rock to ambient electronic. Shake off the workweek and find out why Spin Magazine called Them Jeans' Tuesday Nights at Cinespace one of America's Best Parties.
Warming up the travertine to open the evening is the Bay Area's latest high-tech export, DJ Swayzee, who mixes R&B and new wave into a hot and tasty dance mix guaranteed to get you in the Friday night mood.
