Join us for a close-up look at works of art from the Getty Museum's collection to inspire the entire family. Sharpen fine motor and observational skills in these free, one-hour guided drawing workshops.
Museum educators will greet you in the Museum Entrance Hall and lead you through directed activities in front of original works of art in the collection. You'll learn interesting facts about the art while looking closely and creating your own masterpiece.
After the workshop has ended, you can keep your materials and remain working in the galleries, using the tools you learned as a family.
Each session has a theme. From faces and poses to color and line, your family will gain drawing skills as you explore new techniques in each lesson.
Artful Improvisation: November 7, December 5, January 9, and February 6
Come improvise with us. We'll use a variety of materials to draw dots, dashes, and designs, inspired by the Museum's collection and our imaginations!
Exploring Color: November 21, December 19, January 23, and February 20
We'll draw from sculpture and paintings in the collection as we discover how artists from across time have expressed their creativity through color!
