Tokyo: The Metropolis in the Photographic Imagination

Samuel C. Morse, professor of the history of art and Asian civilization at Amherst College, surveys the turbulent history of Tokyo and discusses the work of some of the most compelling artists who have focused on the life of the city, such as Moriyama Daidō, Kageyama Kōyō, Seto Masato, Hara Mikiko, Nagano Shigeichi, Hayashi Tadahiko, and Ushioda Tokuko.
