This partnership grant advances development of Getty Scholars' Workspace, an open-source digital environment that allows art historians and scholars in related fields to conduct collaborative research projects, unhindered by geographic boundaries, resulting in born-digital publications.
Developed by the Research Institute's Digital Art History program, Scholars' Workspace was an innovative research and publishing tool designed to provide a flexible, robust, and scalable environment to the international academic community. Released as a free, open-source software package with accompanying methodological and technical manuals, Scholars' Workspace advanced how art-historical research is practiced and published.
