Teachers discover strategies for using visual evidence to support their opinions about a work of art.
Discover how art is at the core of creative teaching and critical thinking. In this five-day summer seminar, K–5 teachers will explore how to use art to invigorate their teaching practice and address Common Core literacy standards.

Participants will learn how to enhance students' literacy skills by:
  • Using visual evidence to support opinions about art and other subjects.
  • Analyzing similar themes or topics across different media.
  • Improving academic vocabulary across disciplines by discussing works of art that depict a range of subjects.

Through activities in the galleries, small-group discussions, and hands-on activities, you'll discover new tools to strengthen literacy across the visual art, language arts, science, and history/social studies curricula.

This program addresses the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science and Technical Subjects. Participants are eligible for LAUSD salary points.
