Eames House designed by Charles and Ray Eames, 1949, Pacific Palisades, California. Also known as Case Study House no. 8, the house was designed under Arts and Architecture magazine's influential Case Study Program. Constructed of prefabricated steel, glass, and wood components, it is an early example of residential design using off-the-shelf construction materials. The house is the site of the CMAI's first field project. Photo: Timothy Street-Porter. © 2012 Eames Office, LLC.
