Recovering the Crescent City: The Future of New Orleans's Past (Conservation Matters panel discussion)

A panel of three New Orleans cultural leaders discusses the destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina to the city's architecture, museums, and cultural heritage, and considers what the future holds for this unique American city.

About the Panelists
J. Richard Gruber has been director of the Ogden Museum of Southern Art and a member of the faculty of the University of New Orleans since 1999. He is the author of a number of books on American art, most recently Missing New Orleans.

Meg Lousteau is former executive director of the Louisiana Landmarks Society, which works to insure the safety of the state's landmarks and to preserve its old neighborhoods and districts as desirable, attractive areas to live and work.

Jay Weigel has been executive director of the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans since 1996. He is also an accomplished musician and composer and serves as as the Center's artistic and performing arts director.
