The J. Paul Getty Museum, the Huntington Library, and the Cloisters house gardens that contribute to their respective renown. In this panel, Michael Dehart (Getty), James Folsom (Huntington), and Deirdre Larkin (Cloisters) discuss the role that their respective institutions' art collections play in conceiving and caring for the gardens, as well as how historical landscape design influenced the creation and development of these spaces.

Learn how idyllic green spaces were illustrated in works from the Museum's collection, from the literary Garden of Love and the biblical Garden of Eden to courtly gardens of the nobility.

In the Renaissance, botanical artists captured the beauty of gardens, recorded newly discovered plants, and enhanced understanding of medicinal herbs. Join members of the Botanical Artists Guild of Southern California in the Central Garden as they demonstrate the materials and techniques used to render plants and flowers. Learn about the botany of fruits, vegetables, and spices, and how explorations in the New World changed dinner tables around Europe.
