Record Type: Person
Ch'a Ruler II (Mayan ruler, 422-487 BCE)

Note: Exact decypherment of this ruler's name is not confirmed, but is so named because his glyph resembles the cartoon character "Casper The Friendly Ghost." In his catalog of Maya hieroglyphics, Eric Thompson called this main sign "Xipe", for its resemblance to the flayed human skin associated with the Aztec deity Xipe Totec. The prefix to the left of the main sign is clearly ch'a, but the main sign itself will never be read until a phonetic substitution is agreed upon.
