Malaval, Robert (French painter and environmental artist, 1937-1980)
|
Note: Unschooled in art, Malaval began painting in 1955 and later worked in a variety of media including papier maché, sound, electric light, and screen-printing. He was interested in rock-and-roll music, especially the Rolling Stones, whom he wrote a book about, and kept a series of trunks and boxes that allowed him to create paintings while leading a nomadic life. He committed suicide in Paris, 1980. |
