Note: The Marx Brothers performed as a popular comedy act, first successful on stage in vaudeville, and then in motion pictures during the 1930s. They were known for their embodyment of chaos and their satires of society's pretenses. They performed under the stage names Chico, Harpo, and Groucho, who formed the core of the act, and were sometimes joined by Gummo and Zeppo.
