Molnar, Vera (Hungarian computer artist and painter, 1924-2023, active in Paris)

Note: Hungarian-born artist, active in Paris from 1947, was considered a pioneer of generative art for her digital work, which began with large mainframe computers of the 1960s and evolved through the advent of NFTs. In 1959, she began using a method involving simple algorithms to guide the placement of lines and shapes for works that she produced by hand, on grid paper. Later, in 1968, she gained access to a research laboratory computer and would transfer algorithmic works to paper using a plotter. Some of her work was made in collaboration with her husband, François Molnar, a scientist.
