Sawyer, Andrew Jackson (American businessman, 1834-1892)
|
Note: Born in Royalton, New York, settled in Duluth, Minnesota, and operated a grocery store there in 1869, was engaged in building and operating a large line of grain elevators, was also an active participant in the trading of commodity futures, was a member and the first president of the Duluth Board of Trade, was a member of the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce, was a member of the Chicago Board of Trade, moved to Minneapolis in 1887, testified before the U. S. House of Representatives Committee on Agriculture on the futures exchange in 1892, was the proprietor of a 5,000-acre wheat farm in Minnesota, and died in Minneapolis.
