McHale, Magda Cordell (Hungarian sociologist and painter, 1921-2008, active in England and the United States)

Note: McHale was involved in the formation of the Independent Group in London, and helped create the exhibition "This is Tomorrow." She exhibited paintings in the 1950s at the ICA in London. From 1961 she lived in the United States with her second husband, John McHale, and began a career in futurism: the study of long- range human development as a global culture, as defined by Buckminster Fuller. The McHales collaborated with Alvin Toffler, and founded the Center for Integrative Studies, School of Advanced Technology, State Univ. of N.Y. at Binghamton.
