Riley, Terry (American musician and composer, born 1935)
|
Note: Performing musician and composer initially known for his composition "In C," In which he specifies 53 phrases, but lets the musician decide the duration of repetition, allowing for improvisation within the composition. He later experimented with audiotape technology to create what he called a "time lag accumulator" that allowed him to create cascading delays and repetition as he played. He has been a key and influential figure for a variety of avant-garde and pop music since the mid-1960s. |
