Whitaker, in Montréal, Québec, with Robert Findlay, and in New York City, New York, with George Brown Post and Welles Bosworth. Articled under Richard B. Whitaker, Melbourne (4 years). Came to Montréal, Québec, 1895. Junior draftsman in Robert Findlay office, Montréal, Québec, 1895-1900. Admitted to Province of Quebec Association of Architects (P.Q.A.A.), 1898. Travelled through Britain and Europe, 1900. Draftsman in Findlay's office, 1901-03. Draftsman, George Browne Post & Sons, New York, 1903-05. Married Mary Rutherford, 1905. Senior draftsman, Crichton & McKay, Wellington, New Zealand, 1905-06. Head draftsman, Welles W. Bosworth, New York, 1906-07. Joined Ross & MacFarlane, Montréal, Québec, 1907. Partner in Ross & Macdonald, Montréal, Québec, 1913-42. Member of the Ontario Association of Architects (O.A.A.), 1931. Elected President of the Province of Quebec Association of Architects (P.Q.A.A.), 1939. As partner in Ross & MacFarlane, Montréal, he designed the Montréal Forum, the Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens, and the T. Eaton Company stores in both cities. Canadian architect. |
