Zílio, Carlos (Brazilian artist, writer, and activist, born 1944)
|
Note: Studied at the Institute of Fine Arts in Rio de Janeiro 1963-1964. His work focused on social issues. He was active in demonstrations against Brazil's military dictatorship in the late 1960s, and later joined the armed resistance. He was wounded in 1970 and jailed until 1972. In 1973 he began making artwork again. He was also active as an art critic, and teacher. |
