Maciejowski, Marcin (Polish painter, born 1974)
|
Note: Maciejowski studied architecture before enrolling in the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow to study graphic arts. While at the Academy, he founded Grupa Ładnie with a teacher and some fellow students. With the Grupa Ładnie, he performed concerts, screened films, and created murals in Krakow bars and clubs and produced a weekly magazine. When the members of the Grupa Ładnie went their separate ways, Maciejowski began his career as a painter. He paints motifs found in images gathered from magazines, television, and the Internet. His style is both realistic and reminiscent of the comic genre, and he often includes speech bubbles in his paintings. |
