Note: Bergé was the romantic and business partner of Yves Saint Laurent. He is credited with creating a more business-oriented model for fashion, branching out into diffusion lines of accessories that were within reach of a broader market. He was also a patron of literature, theater and music. He was appointed by François Mitterrand in the late 1980s to oversee Paris's three opera houses. |
