Gyeongbung (Korean painter and monk, active first half of 19th century)
|
Note: Gyeongbung was a monk-painter active in Jeollanam-do and Gyeongsangnam-do (provinces) in the first half of the nineteenth century. In 1802, under the direction of the head monk-painter Kwaeyun, he produced the "Buddha Triad Assembly" and "Buddhist Guardian Deities" at Seonamsa (temple) in Suncheon. Starting from 1806, he worked on several projects with the head monk-painter Doil, such as the repair of the sculptures of Four Guardian Kings in 1806 at Songgwangsa in Suncheon and the production of a "gwaebul", a large-scale hanging scroll used during outdoor rituals, in 1808 at Okcheonsa in Goseong. |
