Note: Ancient eastern Iranian queen who reigned over the Massagetai, a Scythian pastoral-nomadic confederation of Central Asia east of the Caspian Sea, in parts of modern-day Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, western Uzbekistan, and southern Kazakhsta. According to ancient authors Herodotus, Strabo, Polyaenus, Cassiodorus, and Jordanes, she led her troops against King Cyrus of Persia and killed him in 529 BCE.
