Fardon, George Robinson (English photographer, 1806-1886, active in the United States and Canada)

Note: After emigrating to New York City, New York, in the 1840s, Fardon moved to San Francisco, California in 1849, where he was a daguerreotypist and wet plate photographer. Fardon produced an album of views of San Francisco, California that was published in 1856-1857. This album entitled "San Francisco Album. Photographs of the Most Beautiful Views and Public Buildings of San Francisco" was the first published compilation of photographs of an American city. Fardon introduced the wet-collodion negative process in California. In 1858, Fardon moved to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada to work as a photographer. He retired ca. 1870.
