Note: GEH gives year of birth as 1822/3 and date of death as 21 October 1880; 19th C. Photo gives year of birth as 1825. In 1856 Walker was in charge of ambrotyping in Matthew Brady's photography gallery in New York City, New York. Walker was the chief photographer of the United States Treasury Department from 1857 until 1880. He copied drawings and maps for the Office of the Architect and other federal departments. |
