Remondini family (Italian printers, active 17th-19th centuries)

Note: Publishing house in Bassano that produced books, music, decorative paper, playing cards, and other printed ephemera from the 17th century until 1860. The Remondini stock comprised mainly cheap, popular prints (both woodcuts and engravings) with an emphasis on devotional images. The firm used travelling salesmen who took the prints into Spain (and from there they found their way to Latin America), Russia, Poland and Armenia. Their prints are characterized by images especially adapted to popular local saints with inscriptions in the local languages, and bright hand-coloring.
