Daguerre, Dominique (French furniture merchant, died 1796, active in England)
|
Note: He was a French "marchand-mercier," documented as trading in Paris from 14 March 1772, when he went into partnership with Simon-Philippe Poirier. Other partners of Daguerre were Francotay (from 1777 until 1781) and Martin-Eloi Lignereux (from 11 May 1789 until Daguerre's death). Daguerre conducted his business in the fashionable Rue St Honoré, which became famous for the high-quality furniture, clocks, porcelain and bronze items sold to the French court and to an international clientele. He and Poirier specialized in supplying furniture with insets from the Sèvres porcelain factory for female clients. He traveled to London and sold furniture to royal and noble clients there.
