Wildenstein, Georges (French dealer, 1892-1963)
|
Note: French dealer who took control over of the Wildenstein and Company enterprise following the death of his father in 1934. Wildenstein increased the galleries' holdings in Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings, including works by Paul Gauguin, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Vincent van Gogh, and Paul Cézanne. Wildenstein also published the Surrealist magazine Documents and in 1930 hosted the International Surrealist exhibition in his Paris gallery. |
