Record Type: Person
Vigne, Charles (German tapissier, died 1751 or after 1769)

Note: Some of the finest tapestries produced in Berlin at this time were made under Vigne's directorship. The high-loom tapestries of flowers (ca. 1770) in the palace of Sans-Souci are attributed to him. Besides Berlin, Vigne may have also had looms in Dresden. Although Thomson states that Vigne was living in 1769, other scholarship lists his year of death as 1751.
