Shibusawa, Keizō (Japanese banker, businessman, and ethnologist, 1896-1963)
|
Note: Grandson of Shibusawa Eiichi. After graduating from Tokyo Imperial University in 1921, Keizo worked first for Yokohama Specie Bank and then worked for Dai-Ichi Bank, becoming its vice president in 1941. He was appointed deputy governor of the Bank of Japan immediately after the start of World WarⅡand became governor in 1944. After the war, he served as finance minister in the Shidehara Cabinet. In addition to his business activities, Keizo was also dedicated to scholarship and he and his friends set up the "Attic Museum" (later renamed the Institute of Japanese Folk Culture). |
