Sungjo (Korean painter and monk, active second half of 16th century)
|
Note: Sungjo was a monk-painter active in the late sixteenth century. He worked alone to produce the "Amitabha Buddha Triad" now housed at Shogakuji (temple) in Aichi Prefecture in Japan in 1565. The painting is characterized by its use of white and pink in addition to red, green, and ultramarine blue, as well as by the technique of gradual coloring. |
