Knowles, Francis Bangs (American businessman and manufacturer, 1823-1890)
|
Note: Born on November 29, 1823 in Hardwick, Massachusetts. His first business was a manufacturer of men's clothing and gloves that was commissioned by the Union Army during the Civil War. Later Knowles went into business with his brother Lucius to make looms and steam pumps. In 1884 Francis became chief director of Knowles Loom Works upon his brother's death.
