Henry IV, King of France (French king, 1553-1610)

Note: Son of Antoine de Bourbon, Duke de Vendôme, and Jeanne d’Albret, queen of Navarre from 1555. King of Navarre (as Henry III) from 1572 to 1610 and King of France from 1589 to 1610. First of the Bourbon kings of France, Henry IV re-established the court in Paris from the Loire Valley. A protestant in a Catholic state, he converted and worked to unify the country. He embarked upon an ambitious building program in Paris which included aspects of urban planning.
