Haig, George Douglas Haig, Earl (British peer, painter, 1918-2009)

Note: Son of Field Marshal, 1st Earl Haig. Fighting with the Royal Scots Greys, he was a prisoner of war in Italy and Germany during World War II, during which period he began to paint. He studied painting upon his return to England. He was a member of the Scottish Arts Council and of the Royal Fine Art Commission for Scotland, and served as trustee for the National Galleries of Scotland.
