Bertsch, Auguste-Adolphe (French photographer and optical instrument maker, died 1871)

Note: By 1851, Bertsch, an optician and optical instrument maker, was experimenting with microphotography of insects. In 1854, he was a founding member of the Société française de photographie and began collaborating with another photographer, Camille d'Arnaud. In 1856, Bertsch photographed a lunar eclipse. In 1857, Bertsch and Camille d'Arnaud opened a commercial portrait studio in Paris called "Bertsch et Arnaud". In 1861, Bertsch photographed the outskirts of Paris, including Fontainebleu and the Gardens of Saint Germain. He retired from the business in 1863.
