Innocent VI, Pope (French pope, ca. 1282-1362)
|
Note: Son of Adhemar Aubert (1260-?), seigneur de Montel-de-Gelat in the Limousin province. The greatest success of his pontificate was the restoration of order in the States of the Church in Italy, carried out by Cardinal Gil Albornoz whom he had appointed Legate. By contrast, Innocent failed in his attempts to restore peace between the kings of France and England. |
