Painter of Boston 10.190 (Attic vase painter, active ca. 440-430 BCE)
|
Note: The Painter of Boston 10.190 is known from only three surviving vases, all of them choes. He worked in the red-figure technique in Athens around 440 to 430 BCE and was one of many painters loosely connected with the workshop of the Meidias Painter. As with most Greek vase painters, the real name of the Painter of Boston 10.190 is unknown, and he is identified only by the stylistic traits of his work. His name comes from the inventory number of a chous now in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Characteristic of his work are figures with long, hanging locks of hair and the border decoration surrounding the scenes. |
