Han dynasty (Chinese dynasty, active 206 BCE-220 CE)

Note: Chinese imperial dynasty of rulers, founded by Liu Bang, who had led the rebellion against the Qin dynasty. The Han dynasty adopted and established Confucian philosophy, created administrative expansion, and saw an increase in music, art, and literature. The Han dynasty lasted some 400 years, with an interim where Wang Mang gained power and established a short-lived Xin dynasty (9-25 CE). Scholars have divided the dynasty into two periods between Wang Man's rule: the Xi Han (Western Han or Former Han) (206 BCE-25 CE) and the Dong Han (Eastern Han or Later Han) (25-220 CE).
