Lincoln Memorial Commission (American presidential advisory commission, 1911-ca. 1927)

Note: The Lincoln Memorial Commission was established as a presidential advisory commission by an act of February 9, 1911 (36 Stat. 898), to select a location, plan, and design a memorial in Washington, D.C., to the memory of Abraham Lincoln. The Commission was comprised of seven members and included William Howard Taft. Plans of the Commission were approved by Congress on February 1, 1913, and the Commission terminated after the completion of the memorial. |
