|
Note: American art-making partnership established in the mid-1980s. McDermott & McGough live and dress as though they are 19th century or early 20th century dandies. Their paintings are a pastiche of images from popular culture culled from advertising, consumer objects, and printed matter from the past. To this collage of imagery they add contemporary commentary on homoerotic sexuality and other social concerns. They have also produced photographs in antiquated processes such as photogravure, palladium printing, and cyanotype. |
