Record Type: Person
Neufville, Anne de (French aristocrat, 16th century)

Note: She was the recipient of a small early 15th-century French book of Hours referred to as "The Hours of Anne de Neufville." It was probably painted soon after 1425. The 15 miniatures contained in it are all in the style of the Parisian illuminator Bedford Master. The 16th-century fanfare binding contains two anagrams of the name of Anne de Neufville. The exact identity of Anne is difficult to determine as there were three women of the same family and name in the 16th century; perhaps most likely is the abbess of the Cistercian convent of St. Antoine des Champs in Paris.
