Note: In 1858, Robert Christopher Tytler and his wife Harriet Christina learned the calotype process from either Felice Beato or John Murray in Agra, India. Together they made 500 photographs of the sites affected by the 1858 Mutiny at Lucknow, India. In 1866, the Tytlers settled at Simla, India, where Robert Christopher opened a natural history museum and Harriet Christina opened an orphanage for Eurasian and Indian girls. |
