Bassi, Torquato (Brazilian painter, 1880-1967)

Note: His family moved to Brazil in 1893. He studied painting at the Liceu de Arte e Ofícios in the city of São Paulo. In 1913, he moved to France, where he studied at the Académie Julian. In this moment he worked painting scenery. A year and a half later, he returned to Brazil, traveling the South and Northeast exposing his work. He created the Grupo Almeida Junior which included several artists from Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. He was one of the founders of the Associação Paulista de Belas-Artes, in 1942.
