Note: Because of a childhood accident that left both his hands damaged by burns, Nakamura developed a painting method he called 'gasshō' or prayer pose. He studied painting with Hasegawa Sadanobu from the age of nine. He further studied with Kikuchi Keigetsu and Kitano Tsunetomi. He exhibited in Osaka and at the Inten exhibitions in the 1920s and 1930s.
