Linked Ring, The (British association of photographers, active 1892-1909)
|
Note: An association founded by a group of artistic photographers (mainly Pictorialists) who were disenchanted with the Photographic Society of Great Britain, which was mostly led by photographic scientists and technologists. The name was chosen to signify the spiritual and aesthetic link shared by the members. International photographers were also included and no differentiation was made between amateur and professional; members were referred to as 'the Links.' The major activity of the association was an annual exhibition known as the Photographic Salon, which set new standards in photographic art. |
