Najaf 'Ali (Persian painter, active ca. 1815-1860)
|
Note: Najaf 'Ali Isfahani was the son of Aqa Baba. He was the second member of the Isfahani who exclusively worked on painted and varnished objects. Najaf 'Ali worked in an archaizing style recalling 18th-century art. He often imitated the style of his more famous brother Muhammad Isma'il. His signature has been identified on several pen boxes dated 1854. It is hard to identify his work since his pupils not only imitated his style, they used his signature. |
