Michelson, Annette (American film scholar and art critic, 1922-2018)
|
Note: Michelson was an influential art and film critic, editor, translator, and historian. In the 1950s and early 1960s Michelson had a flourishing career in Paris, working for several publications as an arts editor. She returned to the U.S. from Paris in 1966 and joined the newly-formed Department of Cinema Studies at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She was a writer and editor at Artforum, and later co-founded the journal October with Rosalind Krauss. Her papers are held at the Getty Research Institute. |
